The Vice-Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabi’u Kwankwaso, has submitted the names of the party’s candidates across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso disclosed this in a statement posted on his verified X handle on Thursday.
The former Kano State governor said the exercise was conducted in collaboration with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and candidates contesting various positions.
According to him, the formal submission of the candidates’ names was completed on Thursday, August 20, 2026, with the list presented to the NDC National Leader, former Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson.
“In a spirit of complete collaboration, support and solidarity, I led the coordination and formal submission of National Democratic Congress, NDC, candidates across the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory,” Kwankwaso said.
He expressed appreciation to the party leadership and all candidates for their cooperation and commitment throughout the process.
Kwankwaso described the development as another important step towards building what he called a formidable NDC team capable of competing strongly at all levels of the 2027 elections.
“Working closely with the National Working Committee, NWC, and candidates at all levels, the exercise was successfully concluded today, Thursday, 20th August 2026, with the formal presentation of all candidates’ names to the NDC National Leader, His Excellency Sen. Seriake Dickson,” he stated.
