Kwara: VP Shettima visits Woro community after deadly attack
Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Saturday morning in the aftermath of the deadly attack in Woro community, Kaiama Local Government Area, where more than 100 people were reportedly killed on Tuesday by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
The vice president landed at the Tunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, where he was warmly received by the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Also on ground to welcome him were the senator representing Kwara North, Sadiq Umar, and other top state government officials.
Shettima’s visit is part of efforts by the Federal Government to assess the situation on ground and engage state authorities following the violent incident that has thrown the affected communities into mourning.
The vice president is expected to meet with stakeholders including the village head of Woro, the Emir of Kaiama, local government officials and security chiefs.
President Bola Tinubu had ordered immediate deployment of a battalion of soldiers to the troubled spot.
Gunmen suspected to be Boko haram terrorists invaded Woro community, setting it ablaze and killing more than 100 persons.
