Lagos council boss dies in India after battle with cancer
The Amuwo-Odofin Local Government is mourning the loss of its Council Manager, Mr. Bakare, who died in India after a long battle with a cancer-related illness.
Close associates said the late administrator, reportedly in his late 50s, had been receiving treatment abroad.
His passing was acknowledged in a condolence message by Duke Olabode Garbadeen Odusanya Sakirudeen, a close friend, who described Bakare as a committed public servant respected by colleagues throughout his career.
“Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Council Manager, Mr. Bakare, dies after a protracted illness. The Council Manager, in his late fifties, died of a cancer-related ailment in India a few days ago,” Odusanya stated.
He further praised Bakare as a calm, intelligent, and professional officer, recalling their collaboration on several projects. “Bakare was a level-headed, brilliant officer whom I had worked with variously in the past. He was a friend and brother. He shall be sorely missed. It is so painful losing him this early,” he added.
Odusanya prayed for the repose of Bakare’s soul and expressed hope that his family and colleagues would find strength during this difficult time.
The late Council Manager was widely regarded as a committed administrator, whose contributions to local government administration will be remembered by all who worked closely with him.
