Lakurawa terrorists attack Kebbi community, kill many
At least 34 people were reportedly a killed on Wednesday in a series of coordinated attacks by suspected Lakurawa militants across communities in Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The assaults, which lasted from morning until afternoon, targeted multiple villages, leaving families devastated and forcing many residents to flee for safety.
Security analyst Bakastine described the attacks as “one of the deadliest single-day incidents in recent months in the area,” shedding light on the scale of the tragedy.
“The attackers moved systematically from village to village, targeting civilians with brutal efficiency,” Bakastine said.
According to him, the hardest-hit community was Mamunu, where 16 people lost their lives.
Five youths were killed in Awashaka, while three residents were killed in Masama.
Two people each were killed in Gorin Dena, Kamzo, Dan Mai Rago, Tungar Bature, and Tungar Tsoho communities.
By nightfall, residents across the wider Kangiwa axis reportedly remained gripped by fear amid concerns of further attacks.
“The incident highlights the worsening security situation in Kebbi North Senatorial District.
“Residents are calling on local and state authorities to take urgent action.
With 34 people killed in a single day across multiple communities, urgent questions remain over what immediate and decisive steps authorities will take to end the cycle of violence in Arewa LGA and restore safety for its residents,” Bakatsine added.
