NAHCON Chairman Abdullahi Pakistan resigns amid board crisis
NAHCON board members had earlier written to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging the removal of the chairman.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Saleh Pakistan, has resigned from office.
His resignation comes days after all eleven permanent and non-permanent commissioners of the commission passed a vote of no confidence in his leadership and formally petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his removal.
Earlier reports by Very Nigerian revealed that the commissioners, drawn from across the country and key Islamic bodies, unanimously accused the NAHCON chairman of administrative and leadership failures, prompting the unprecedented action.
The petition, titled “Vote of No Confidence in the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman,” was jointly signed by the entire board.
The signatories include three permanent commissioners, six non-permanent commissioners representing the country’s geopolitical zones, as well as two non-permanent commissioners representing the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) and the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).
