Nasarawa Deputy Speaker Muhammad Oyanki dumps PDP for APC
The Deputy Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Muhammad Adamu Oyanki, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oyanki, who represents Doma North Constituency, announced his defection on Wednesday during a courtesy and thank-you visit to Governor Abdullahi Sule in Lafia.
While Oyanki has made his move public, sources say he is expected to formally notify the Speaker of the House of Assembly through an official letter when lawmakers return from recess next week.
Sources also indicated that Oyanki may outline the reasons for his defection when his letter is read on the floor of the House.
The defection is seen as a boost for the APC in Nasarawa State and comes amid ongoing political realignments ahead of future electoral contests.
