National Assembly postpones plenary resumption to March 5
The National Assembly has shifted its plenary resumption from Tuesday, February 24, 2026, to Thursday, March 5, 2026, citing the need for committees to complete ongoing budget defence exercises.
The announcement was made in a statement on Monday by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana.
The statement explained that the adjustment will give lawmakers’ committees more time to scrutinise ministries, departments, and agencies as part of the 2026 Appropriation Bill review.
Plenary sessions in both chambers are now scheduled to resume at 11:00 a.m. on March 5, 2026.
Members of the National Assembly were urged to take note of the revised date.
The leadership expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the postponement and emphasised the importance of allowing committees sufficient time for detailed budget evaluations.
