NDLEA drags two to court over alleged possession of illicit drugs in Oyo
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Oyo State Command, has arraigned two suspected drug traffickers, Babatunde Awoyemi, 63, and Banke Adigun, 50, before a Federal High Court in Ibadan over alleged possession and transportation of illicit drugs.
The defendants were brought before the court on charges involving 770 grams of Tramadol and 47 grams of Rubnol.
Both Awoyemi and Adigun pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge bordering on unlawful dealing and possession of narcotics.
Following their plea, Justice Uche Agomoh ordered that the suspects be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Facility. The case was subsequently adjourned until April 27 for the hearing of their bail application.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Mrs R.O. Ige, told the court that the defendants committed the crime on Dec. 8 2025 along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Oyo State.
Ige alleged that the NDLEA operatives arrested Awoyemi and Adigun while transporting a sack containing 770gm of Tramadol and 47gm of Rubnol, both psychotropic substances with similar functions as Cocaine, Heroine and Cannabis Sativa.
She noted that the offences contravene the provisions of section 11(C ) of the NDLEA Act Cap n30 law of the Federation 2004.
