NUJ FCT Chairman urges unity as Ramadan, Lent begin
As Christians and Muslims commence the sacred seasons of Lent and Ramadan, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, Grace Ike, has called for unity, sacrifice and national renewal across the country.
In a goodwill message to faithful in the Federal Capital Territory and across Nigeria, the NUJ FCT Chairman described Lent and Ramadan as solemn periods of fasting, prayer and reflection that highlight enduring values such as discipline, compassion, sacrifice and love for humanity.
He noted that the twin observances present a unique opportunity for Nigerians to draw closer to God, strengthen moral resolve, and recommit to peaceful coexistence and national development.
“At a time when our nation yearns for unity, stability and progress, I urge all adherents to use this holy season to pray fervently for Nigeria, for our leaders and for the continued peace and security of the Federal Capital Territory,” he stated.
The chairman reaffirmed the commitment of journalists in the FCT to promoting truth, fairness and responsible reportage that fosters harmony and mutual understanding among Nigeria’s diverse population. He urged citizens to allow the sacred season to inspire them to serve as ambassadors of peace, tolerance and respect.
On behalf of the NUJ FCT Council, he wished Muslim and Christian faithful a spiritually fulfilling Ramadan and Lenten season, expressing hope that the period of prayer and sacrifice would usher in renewed hope and greater prosperity for the nation.
