Osimhen nets fifth goal as Galatasaray beat Göztepe in 3-2
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen continued his strong start to the season as he scored and provided an assist in Galatasaray’s hard-fought 3-2 win over Göztepe on Saturday.
Göztepe took a surprise lead in the 16th minute when Miroshi found the back of the net. Galatasaray, however, responded quickly, with Davinson Sánchez scoring to bring the Turkish champions level.
Osimhen then turned provider as he set up Sara, who completed Galatasaray’s comeback by putting the hosts 2-1 ahead.
The Nigerian forward later got on the scoresheet himself after winning a penalty, which he calmly converted in the 63rd minute to extend Galatasaray’s advantage to 3-1.
The goal took Osimhen’s tally for the season to five, further highlighting his impressive form since the start of the campaign.
Göztepe managed to reduce the deficit, but Galatasaray held on to claim a valuable three points.
The result moves Galatasaray to the top of the league table after three matches as they begin their campaign to retain the Turkish league title.
