Popular Nigerian comedian Real Warri Pikin has apologised to Nigerians and explained the circumstances surrounding her viral on-stage moment with singer Timaya during a recent performance.
In a statement on Sunday, the comedian said the incident was spontaneous and occurred while she was backstage enjoying Timaya’s performance.
According to her, Timaya had called for a woman to join him on stage during his performance of his song, Ukwu, prompting her to react instinctively and make her way towards the stage.
Real Warri Pikin said she did not initially know that Timaya intended to carry the woman who would join him during the performance.
She explained that she only realised what was expected when the singer indicated that she should jump towards him.
The comedian said she was initially hesitant and attempted to decline the invitation, but eventually joined the performance after Timaya encouraged her not to disrupt his show.
“Nigerians, please take it easy on me, I’m really sorry. I take full responsibility for my actions. Na me put myself for this one o,” she said.
Explaining what happened backstage, she said she was simply enjoying Timaya’s performance when the singer asked a woman to come on stage.
She added that, being someone who enjoys lively performances, she immediately rushed towards the stage without knowing what would follow.
“I no know say if Timaya wan perform that him song, Ukwu, him must bring woman come out outside make him carry am. I no know. I dey backstage dey vibe when e dey perform when he say make a lady come out,” she said.
Real Warri Pikin further disclosed that she was surprised when Timaya indicated that she should jump towards him.
She said she could be seen in the full video hesitating and pleading with the singer before eventually going ahead with the performance.
“Na him e say I go jump for him body. I shock. I say no oo. If you watch the full video, you go see where I dey beg am. I was very reluctant,” she explained.
According to the comedian, Timaya encouraged her to continue with the performance, telling her not to disrupt his show after she had already come on stage.
She subsequently apologised to those who were upset by the incident and asked Nigerians not to be angry with her.
“Na him I do am o. Make una no vex for me abeg,” she added.
Real Warri Pikin also jokingly disclosed that her husband, Ikechukwu, was unhappy with her over the incident, noting that he was in the United States while she was in Nigeria.
The comedian’s explanation comes amid reactions to footage of the performance that circulated online, drawing comments from fans and social media users.
