Rear Admiral Sanusi Kashim Ibrahim joins Borno guber race, picks ADC nomination form
Retired naval officer, Sanusi Sir Kashim Ibrahim, has officially joined the race for the Borno State governorship after purchasing the ₦30 million nomination form of the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 elections.
The development positions the retired Rear Admiral among the early contenders seeking to emerge as the ADC’s governorship candidate in Borno State.
Earlier, former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, also obtained the ADC governorship nomination form for Kebbi State, signalling increasing political activity within the opposition party across northern Nigeria.

Rear Admiral Sanusi Sir Kashim Ibrahim (Rtd) is a former senior officer of the Nigerian Navy with decades of military and administrative experience. Throughout his service career, he held several strategic positions within the armed forces and was involved in security operations, maritime administration, and national defence management.
Known for his disciplined background and leadership experience, Ibrahim is expected to campaign on issues surrounding security, governance, youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and economic recovery in Borno State, which has battled insurgency and humanitarian challenges for years.
His entry into the governorship race adds to the growing list of aspirants aligning with the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
