Senate approves Dalhatu, Oke, Are, for ambassadorial appointments
The Senate on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of three ambassadorial nominees, Ayodele Oke, Colonel Kayode Are (retd), and Amin Dalhatu, as envoys.
The approval came after lawmakers considered and adopted the report of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs during plenary.
Presenting the report, the committee’s chairman, Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, said the nominees were screened and found suitable for the positions.
Following the presentation, the Senate resolved to confirm the nominations, clearing the trio to represent Nigeria in diplomatic assignments.
Oke, a former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and ex-Nigerian Ambassador to the Commonwealth Secretariat in London; Are, a former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS); and Dalhatu, Nigeria’s immediate past Ambassador to South Korea, were unanimously endorsed by lawmakers when the Senate President Godswill Akpabio put their nomination to a voice vote.
