Senate Committee sitting turns dramatic as Natasha, Ndubueze clash over Steel Minister
Tension flared at the National Assembly on Wednesday as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan engaged Senator Patrick Ndubueze in a heated exchange during a committee sitting attended by the Minister of Steel Development, Shuaibu Abubakar Audu.
The session, which was expected to focus on issues within the steel sector, briefly descended into drama as both lawmakers openly disagreed over procedural and substantive matters before the committee.
Very Nigerian recalls that in 2025, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan had a high-profile clash with Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary, a confrontation that eventually led to her suspension from the Red Chamber.
The suspension sparked legal action, culminating in a ruling by the Court of Appeal, which upheld the Senate’s decision to suspend her.
However, the appellate court cleared her of any requirement to issue an apology or pay a fine, effectively drawing a line under that chapter of the controversy.
Wednesday’s incident adds to the growing list of confrontations that have defined some committee proceedings in recent times, raising concerns about decorum and legislative harmony within the Upper Chamber.
