Seven feared dead, four injured in Yobe road accident
A fatal road accident has claimed the lives of seven passengers, while four others sustained varying degrees of injuries in Yobe State.
The incident involved a Sharon bus conveying passengers from the Lawanti area of Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State to Maiduguri, Borno State.
Preliminary findings showed that the vehicle, driven by one Gambo Abbo, suffered a rear tyre burst while in motion, leading to the crash.
“The sudden mechanical failure caused the driver to lose control, resulting in the vehicle veering off the road and plunging into the bush”.
The Commissioner of Police, Yobe State Command, Emmanuel Ado, who expresses his deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the deceased, wished the injured a speedy and full recovery.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring road safety across the state, and cautioned motorists to strictly adhere to traffic regulations, avoid speeding and desist from reckless driving.
