Soludo’s victory shows strength of Nigeria’s democracy — Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo on his re-election as Governor of Anambra State, describing the victory as an affirmation of his visionary and results-driven leadership.
In a statement issued from the State House on Sunday, President Tinubu said Soludo’s overwhelming victory in Saturday’s governorship election has made him only the third governor in Anambra’s history to secure a second term.
The President commended the people of Anambra State, security agencies, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring a peaceful and credible election.
“Professor Soludo’s re-election is a testament to his visionary leadership and the significant progress the state has made under his guidance,” Tinubu said.
He praised Soludo for applying academic principles in governance, demonstrating accountability, transparency, and prudent management of resources.
Recalling his visit to Anambra in May, the President said he was impressed by the projects executed by the Soludo administration, describing them as “remarkable and visionary.”
“I commend Governor Soludo for bringing discipline, grace, brilliance, and a fresh perspective to governance in Anambra. Under him, Anambra is living up to its motto as the Light of the Nation,” Tinubu noted.
He urged the re-elected governor to be magnanimous in victory and work with his opponents to advance the state’s development.
President Tinubu also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting Anambra and strengthening collaboration between the state and the Federal Government.
He further lauded INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and his team for conducting what observers described as a credible election, urging the commission to continue improving Nigeria’s electoral process.
“The victory of the opposition All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) demonstrates the vitality of our democracy and proves that any hardworking and progressive leader can achieve victory through the people’s mandate,” the President stated.
