Tambuwal withdraws from Sokoto South Senatorial race as ADC unveils 2027 ticket holders in State

Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has withdrawn from the 2027 Sokoto South Senatorial race, stepping down from his reelection bid ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

Tambuwal, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and a close ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, is said to have taken the decision as part of ongoing political realignments within the opposition ahead of 2027.

His withdrawal comes as the ADC in Sokoto State released a list of its candidates across various elective positions for the 2027 general elections, signalling early consolidation of the party’s structure in the state.

Among the candidates announced are gubernatorial and legislative aspirants positioned to fly the party’s flag across senatorial districts and federal constituencies.
