TASFUED reshuffles leadership, appoints new provost, deputy provost
Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State, has appointed Professor Simisaye Olakunle as the new Provost of its Postgraduate College.
The university also appointed Professor Latifat Erinle-Ibrahim as the Deputy Provost of the Postgraduate College.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Sunday by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Oladipo.
According to the statement, the appointments and reappointments are part of changes made to the leadership of various units across the institution.
Also affected is the Students’ Affairs Directorate, where Professor Olakunle Olagunju Balogun was reappointed as Dean of Students’ Affairs, with Dr Anuoluwapo Feyikemi Awodoyin appointed as Sub-Dean.
Oladipo said the appointments were aimed at strengthening the university’s academic leadership, improving administrative efficiency and consolidating its pursuit of academic excellence.
He said, “These appointments and reappointments involve members of our academic community and cut across the Postgraduate College, Academic and Administrative Directorates, Students’ Affairs, Centres, Committees, Councils, Colleges and Departments.”
According to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olakunle previously served as Sub-Dean of the Postgraduate College before his new appointment.
He said the appointments reflected the university’s commitment to placing competent and experienced academics in strategic positions.
Oladipo also appreciated academics whose tenures had ended, saying their contributions had helped in the development of the university.
“Leadership is a continuum, and every administration builds upon the foundations laid by those who have served before it,” he said.
Other appointments include Professor Jimoh Owoyele as Director of the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, with Professor Soluade Zabu Olayiwola as Deputy Director.
Professor Adefunke Ekine was appointed Director of the Directorate of Research and External Relations, while Professor Lawal Nurudeen Abiodun will serve as Deputy Director.
Professor Salako Taofik Ajani was appointed Director of the Distance Learning Institute, with Dr Usman Opeyemi Lateef as Deputy Director.
Professor Kunle Bankole Osinusi was appointed Director of the Centre for External, Part-Time and Preliminary Studies, while Dr Olayinka Olufunmilayo Olusanya was appointed Deputy Director.
Dr Yinka Adediran was appointed Director of the Centre for Human Rights and Gender Education, with Dr Anselm Oluwaseun Hannah as Deputy Director.
Other appointees include Professor Adeoye Muhammed Adeniyi as Director of Counselling and Human Development; Dr Adekoya Samson Kehinde as Director of CENVOS; Professor Akinyode Timothy Olawunmi as Director of IVOTRA; Professor Awofodu Adebola Daniel as Director of CITEL; Professor Bayo John Ayorinde as Director of TASFUED Consultancy; and Dr Ademola Adenubi as Director of Information and Communication Technology.
The university also appointed Dr Kassim Hassan Gbenga as SIWES Coordinator, Dr Badeji Abosede Adejoke as Hostel Warden and Dr Fashina Ayomikun Opeoluwa as Assistant Hostel Warden.
For various committees and councils, Professor Amore Kehinde Pedro was appointed Chairman of the Teaching Practice Board, while Dr Ayedun Toyin Julius will head the Examination Malpractice Committee.
Professor Modupeola Banjo will chair the Sports Council, Professor Sowole Olusegun will head BCOS, Professor Okunowo Abayomi will oversee Transport Services, while Professor Jamiu Fatai Owolabi will head SICED.
Oladipo said new Heads of Department and coordinators had also been appointed across the university’s colleges.
He charged the appointees to approach their responsibilities with humility, integrity, innovation, accountability and teamwork.
“Leadership in a university is measured not only by the office one occupies, but by the value one creates, the people one develops, the systems one improves and the legacy one leaves behind,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the newly appointed and reappointed academics, urging them to contribute to the continued growth and development of the institution.
