Tension as fire engulfs building in Osun
A fire outbreak occurred on Sunday in the Old Garage area of Osogbo, Osun State, prompting emergency responders to move swiftly to contain the blaze.
Videos shared online showed firefighters battling the fire as thick smoke rose from the affected location.
According to a report by Inside Osogbo, the incident happened within the Old Garage axis. The report noted that two filling stations are situated close to the scene, raising concerns among residents and road users.
The platform further urged residents to stay away from the area to allow emergency teams unrestricted access, while calling for additional support for firefighters at the scene.
In a follow-up update about two hours after the fire was first reported, Inside Osogbo said the blaze was still ongoing despite efforts from the Federal Fire Service, Osun State Fire Service, and other emergency responders.
“We appreciate the efforts of the officials of Federal Fire Service, Osun State Fire Service, and other emergency responders for not relenting. We hope that the fire will be totally quenched soon,” the platform said, while advising motorists to use alternative routes.
When contacted, the Osun State Command of the Federal Fire Service confirmed the incident.
“Yes, it is true. The fire investigative department are there,” a watchroom official said.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official information on the cause of the fire or whether any casualties had been recorded.
