Tension as gunmen kidnap infant from tricycle in Delta
A two-month-old baby, identified as Riches, has been abducted by suspected gunmen who were posing as passengers in a commercial tricycle along the NNPC Link Road in Ekpan, Delta State.
The incident happened around 4 pm on Monday when the baby’s mother, Mrs Rita Oghale, boarded a tricycle, popularly called keke, from Shaguolor Junction to Airport Road with her two children.
Mrs Oghale said two other passengers, a man and a woman, were already seated at the back of the tricycle.
She explained that as the tricycle got to the NNPC Link Road, close to the Delta Careers College fence and just before the traffic light, the male passenger suddenly brought out a gun and demanded her two-month-old baby.
According to her, the suspect forcefully snatched the baby, collected her phone number, and pushed her and her other child out of the tricycle before speeding off.
The distraught mother said the incident had been reported to the police and appealed to members of the public with any useful information that could lead to the recovery of her child to contact the nearest police station.
