Tension as gunmen storm Celestial church in Ondo, kidnap six worshippers

Gunmen have kidnapped six worshippers at the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) in Uso, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The attack happened during a church service in the early hours of Wednesday, February 25.

Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said it occurred around 12:50 a.m. while worshippers were inside the church.

Authorities have launched investigations into the abduction, and efforts are ongoing to rescue the victims.

Jimoh explained that the victims were reportedly taken to an unknown destination by the attackers.

“Upon receiving the report, the operatives of the Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups, immediately mobilised to the scene and commenced coordinated rescue operations.

“As a result of sustained joint efforts, one of the kidnapped victims has been successfully rescued,” the statement said.

The abduction comes just four days after gunmen kidnapped a couple at Ilu-Abo, in Akure North LGA of Ondo State.

Also, Oba Kehinde Falodun, the Alagamo of Agamo in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, was recently shot dead by gunmen who invaded his palace.
