Tinubu condemns attacks on UAE amid rising Middle East tensions

President Bola Tinubu has expressed solidarity with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) following recent attacks on the country’s civilian population and critical economic infrastructure.

In a post on his official X handle on Thursday, Tinubu said Nigeria remains committed to global peace and stability, while condemning any actions that endanger civilians and strategic national assets.

The President also reaffirmed Nigeria’s support for UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, commending the country’s efforts to protect its citizens and infrastructure.

“Nigeria is for global peace and stability and for its friends and partners anywhere,” Tinubu wrote.

“I am particularly concerned by the attacks on UAE’s civilian and economic infrastructure. I reaffirm my support and solidarity to the President of UAE and the measures he took to safeguard civilian populations and critical infrastructure.”

The statement comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, following reported missile and drone attacks linked to ongoing regional hostilities involving Iran and other international actors.

Reports indicate that UAE air defence systems intercepted several projectiles, though some strikes still resulted in casualties and damage in parts of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the crisis have so far yielded limited progress, with further negotiations expected in the coming days.
