US conducts third consecutive airstrikes on Iran
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that it carried out a third consecutive night of airstrikes targeting Iran.
CENTCOM disclosed the development in a statement posted on its verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday.
The military command did not immediately provide details on the specific locations targeted, the extent of the strikes, or any casualties resulting from the latest operation.
The renewed strikes come amid heightened tensions in the region, with the United States continuing military operations against Iranian targets as the conflict escalates.
“These strikes will continue imposing a heavy cost on Iranian forces and degrade their ability to attack innocent civilians and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz,” the post read.
The third strikes came after President Donald Trump said in an interview with Hugh Hewitt that there would be more airstrikes against Iran Monday and Tuesday night.
He stated that the United States was taking control of the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that wealthy countries would pay for US efforts to secure the waterway.
Trump alleged that Iranian negotiators were reversing agreements reached during previous talks, warning of further military action if Tehran violated ceasefire commitments.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said Iran would fulfill its obligations only after the United States fully honored its own commitments.
According to him, Iran remains in contact with mediators, including Qatar, Oman and Pakistan, to prevent further escalation and keep diplomatic channels open.
