Veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Adeshina dies after brief illness
The Yoruba movie industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran actor and entertainer, Taiwo Adeshina, popularly known as Elegbeje Ado.
According to reports, the respected Nollywood actor died on June 29, 2026, after a brief illness.
Taiwo Adeshina was celebrated for his outstanding contributions to the Yoruba film industry, where his talent, charisma and memorable performances earned him widespread admiration from fans and colleagues.
Throughout his career, he featured in numerous Yoruba-language productions, building a reputation as one of the industry’s respected veterans. His portrayal of diverse characters and dedication to the craft made him a household name among lovers of Yoruba cinema.
His passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, fans and admirers, who have described him as a gifted actor whose legacy will continue to inspire generations of filmmakers and performers.
Details surrounding his funeral arrangements are yet to be announced by the family.
