Wike’s ally Philip Aduda officially joins APC
Philip Aduda, former senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He was received into the ruling party on Monday in Abuja by APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.
Earlier in the day, Aduda resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the leadership crisis within the opposition party as his reason for leaving. The former lawmaker expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunity to serve in various elective positions in Nigeria.
Aduda represented the FCT in the Senate from 2011 to 2023. He lost his seat to Senator Ireti Kingibe in the 2023 elections, a result he later challenged in court. Both the election tribunal and the appeal court upheld Kingibe’s victory.
Aduda is a known ally of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who recently stated that Kingibe would not be re-elected in 2027, claiming she has “no project to show.”
The move marks a significant political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
