2026 Grammys: Tyla beats Davido, others to clinch best African music performance award
South African singer Tyla has won the Best African Music Performance award at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, adding another major milestone to her fast-rising career.
The 22-year-old artiste secured the prize with her hit song “Push 2 Start”, emerging ahead of strong competition from Nigerian music heavyweights Burna Boy, Davido and Ayra Starr.
Also nominated in the category were Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin for their collaborative track *“Hope & Love”.
Tyla’s victory further underlines the growing global recognition of African music, with the category attracting some of the continent’s most celebrated performers.
Her win was met with excitement from fans across Africa, especially in South Africa, where she is widely hailed as one of the new faces of the country’s sound on the world stage.
This marks Tyla’s second win in the Best African Music Performance category, following her inaugural win in 2024 with “Water”.
