2027: Tinubu has performed well enough to win second term, APC will retain power beyond 2031 — Yari
Former Zamfara State Governor and Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure a second term in office in the 2027 presidential election.
Yari, who represents Zamfara West in the Senate, said Tinubu’s performance since assuming office had positioned him for victory at the polls.
He spoke on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where he was received by APC supporters following his return from an overseas trip.
The APC campaign chief said the party would retain the confidence of Nigerians by fulfilling the promises it made during the 2023 election campaign.
According to him, the party remains committed to delivering on its campaign pledges while seeking another mandate for Tinubu.
“I want to assure Nigerians that whatever promise we made during the campaign, we shall keep to our promises.
“Today, we have seen him [Tinubu] as President, and by God’s grace, he shall be the President come 2027,” Yari said.
He said the supporters who gathered at the airport had come to welcome him and pray for the success of the President and the APC ahead of the 2027 election.
Yari further described the APC as a party that keeps its commitments to the electorate, promising that the administration would continue working towards fulfilling its campaign promises.
“Our party is synonymous with keeping to our words. We pray that Almighty Allah will give him [Tinubu] the wisdom to lead this country. We assure Nigerians that we shall fulfil all our campaign promises,” he said.
The former governor also expressed confidence that the APC would remain in power beyond the 2027 election cycle.
He prayed for the continued dominance of the ruling party, saying the APC would continue to govern Nigeria after Tinubu completes a possible second term.
“We pray that our party will continue to be the party to lead the country after President Tinubu’s second term,” Yari added.
Yari’s appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council was announced by the Presidency on Saturday as the ruling party began preparations for the 2027 general election.
Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, was appointed Secretary of the campaign council.
The appointments come amid intensified political realignment and mobilisation by both the ruling party and opposition groups ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
