2027: We’ll beat Tinubu silly even if Elon Musk leads his campaign council — NDC to APC

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed the composition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, insisting that the presence of wealthy individuals and prominent political figures would not guarantee victory for the ruling party in the 2027 general elections.

The NDC Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, Theo Abu Agada, said the opposition party would defeat the APC in 2027 regardless of the personalities appointed to manage its campaign.

Agada made the statement while reacting to the APC’s recently announced campaign structure for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

In a post on X, the NDC chieftain said the party was not concerned by the composition of the ruling party’s campaign council, arguing that the ultimate decision would be made by Nigerian voters.

“I am not the least bit moved or worried by the composition of the APC Presidential Campaign Council,” Agada wrote.

He said the APC could appoint billionaire businessman Elon Musk as its Director-General and still lose the election.

“If the party likes, let it name Elon Musk as their DG and all the moneybags in the country as their members, we will still beat them silly in 2027,” he said.

Agada argued that the outcome of the 2027 election would be determined by ordinary Nigerians rather than the financial resources or political influence of campaign officials.

“The ordinary people whose take-home cannot even take them home are the ones who will make a bold statement in 2027,” he added.

The NDC spokesman also accused the APC-led administration of worsening poverty in the country, claiming that about 140 million Nigerians had been pushed into poverty since the government assumed office.

“The 140 million Nigerians that the APC-led administration has driven into poverty are the ones who will decide the 2027 election,” he said.

His comments come amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with the APC and opposition parties stepping up efforts to consolidate their political structures and mobilise support ahead of the poll.
