2027: Wike’s ally Chinda clinches Rivers APC governorship ticket
Hon. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 election in Rivers State.
Chinda emerged after standing as the party’s sole aspirant following the withdrawal of three other contenders from the race.
The aspirants who stepped down on Wednesday night include Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, Tonye Cole, and Alabo Dakorinama George-Kelly.
Chairman of the State Governorship Primary Election Committee, Kwamoti Bitrus, announced that Chinda secured a total of 268,497 votes as the sole candidate of the party.
He commended members of the party for participating massively and the agents for their dedication.
Bitrus thanked the State Chairman of the party for providing a conducive environment for the process
It would be recalled that Chinda, who was elected into the Green Chambers on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Chinda, who is representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency at the National Assembly is the Minority Leader of 10th House of Representatives.
However, the Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Chibike Ikenga, noted that APC has been recalibrated in the state.
He said that the party has gotten a candidate that will unify and drive development in the state, adding that the candidacy of Chinda shows that APC has been reorganised in the state.
