8 months after wedding, woman allegedly stabs husband to death in Abia
The Abia State Police Command has arrested a woman identified as Mrs Sarah Innocent for allegedly stabbing her husband, Innocent, to death following a misunderstanding between the couple.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday night at Ohuru Ishimiri village in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
According to relatives of the deceased, the couple got married in December 2025, about eight months before the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged stabbing remain unclear, while the police are expected to investigate the incident and determine what led to the death.
Confirming the incident to journalists on Monday evening, the Abia State Police Command said that “the report about the crime was recieved at Ohuru Isimiri Police Divisional Headquarters on 09/08/2026”.
According to the police spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, the report lodged at the Ohuru Ishimiri Divisional Headquarters stated that Mrs Sara Innocent of Ohuru Isimiri village allegedly stabbed her husband in the chest with a kitchen knife during a misunderstanding.
She said that the victim was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
“Scene of the crime has been visited, the corpse deposited at the morgue for autopsy and the suspect is currently in police custody.
“Discreet investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID)”, the Police Public Relations Officer said.
