Late Brigadier General Braimah, other fallen heroes buried amid tears in Borno
Nigeria on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, laid to rest Late Brigadier General Omo Braimah, Captain Ismail, and other gallant soldiers who lost their lives in active service.
The solemn burial ceremony took place at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri, Borno State, where the fallen officers and soldiers were honoured for their sacrifice, bravery, and dedication to national service.
Amid grief from families, colleagues and mourners, the deceased were accorded full military honours in recognition of their commitment to defending the peace, unity and security of the country.
The ceremony drew top dignitaries, including the Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, and other senior military officers.
In separate tributes, the dignitaries described the fallen soldiers as true patriots who stood firm in the face of danger and paid the ultimate price in service to the nation.
They said the courage, discipline and sense of duty demonstrated by the deceased would remain a lasting source of inspiration to future generations.
Prayers were offered for the repose of their souls, while official citations highlighting their years of service and sacrifice were read before their next of kin.
The emotional scenes from grieving families reflected the painful human cost of the country’s ongoing security efforts, even as the nation continues to honour the memory of those who died defending it.
Their burial serves as a reminder that the peace and stability Nigerians seek are often secured through the sacrifices of brave men and women who place duty above self.
