Tinubu is a “Master Rigger,” nobody can beat him at manipulation — Babachir Lawal

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has launched a sharp attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, alleging that Tinubu remains an unbeatable “master rigger” ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Lawal made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, where he assessed the political landscape ahead of the next general election.

According to him, if electoral manipulation becomes the deciding factor in elections, no politician in Nigeria can compete with Tinubu.

“Landslide. He’ll rig everybody,” Lawal said, adding that Tinubu would be impossible to defeat under such circumstances.

He further stated that Atiku Abubakar’s chances of winning would depend on electoral integrity, insisting that the former Vice President would struggle if manipulation becomes a factor.

“If the parameter for winning elections in Nigeria is rigging, nobody can face Bola Tinubu in this country,” he said.

Lawal also criticised Atiku’s leadership credentials, alleging that his presidency would perform worse than the current administration, while accusing him of remaining silent on Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.

“I know Atiku. I have studied his antecedents and realised that his presidency will be worse than Bola Tinubu’s,” he added.

The former SGF said he has withdrawn support from all major presidential contenders ahead of 2027, including the Labour Party’s Peter Obi, stating that he is no longer aligned with any political camp.

“I am supporting nobody. I don’t want to be part of anything for now,” he said.

Lawal also claimed he left the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accusing the party of manipulating its presidential primary to favour Atiku Abubakar. The ADC, however, has denied the allegation, insisting that its primary was free and fair.

The controversy adds to growing political tension ahead of the 2027 elections, as major political figures continue to position themselves and trade accusations over internal party processes and electoral credibility.
