It will be evil for Delta people to vote against Tinubu, he is our in-law’ — Gov Oborevwori
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has said it would be “evil” for Deltans to vote against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, citing family and regional ties through the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
He made the remarks during an interview on Arise Television aired on Tuesday, where he argued that President Tinubu has a unique affiliation with Delta State and should therefore enjoy strong local support.
“Among the candidates that emerged, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the only one that has an affiliation to Delta State,” the governor said.
“The man is an in-law here, and it would be evil to vote against your in-law. It’s a family affair.”
Oborevwori also said political sentiment in the South-South, particularly Delta State, favours the president due to perceived shared ties and political relationships.
He further claimed that First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has strengthened the administration’s acceptance in the state, especially among some ethnic groups.
“The First Lady is holding the state strong,” he said, adding that support for the president is growing across communities in Delta.
The governor also defended the Tinubu administration’s economic policies, saying federal reforms have improved revenue inflows to states and enabled more capital projects.
“Sometimes when I commission projects and tell people we have money, it’s because of the reforms,” he said.
Oborevwori’s comments have since sparked reactions, as political discussions intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
