Sanusi Bala Maituta on Wednesday received his Certificate of Return as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Zamfara Central Senatorial District, formally confirming his candidacy for the 2027 general election.

Speaking shortly after receiving the certificate, Maituta expressed gratitude to the party leadership, delegates and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, describing the development as a call to greater service and responsibility.

“This Certificate of Return is not just a document; it is a symbol of the trust and confidence that our party members and the people have placed in me. I accept it with humility, gratitude, and a renewed commitment to serve,” he said.

Maituta reaffirmed his confidence in the PDP, describing the party as a platform of hope for millions of Nigerians.

“The PDP remains a platform of hope for millions of Nigerians. We must continue to stand together, engage our communities, and work tirelessly to earn the trust and confidence of the people,” he stated.

The PDP candidate also stressed the need for unity within the opposition party, urging members and supporters to remain focused on the collective goal of providing responsive and people-oriented leadership.

“Our responsibility as leaders and candidates is to inspire confidence through service, integrity, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of our people,” he added.

He further called for issue-based campaigns and sustained grassroots engagement, noting that Nigerians expect leaders who prioritise development, justice, accountability and economic opportunities.

According to him, the PDP must continue to strengthen its engagement with citizens and demonstrate readiness to address the country’s social and economic challenges through people-centred policies.

The presentation of the Certificate of Return signals the formal commencement of a renewed campaign effort by Maituta as he seeks to consolidate support across Zamfara Central ahead of the 2027 election.

With his candidacy officially confirmed, the politician is expected to intensify consultations with stakeholders, party leaders and constituents while advancing his message of unity, service and inclusive development.

Maituta, a philanthropist and politician, first gained prominence through his humanitarian activities, particularly in Zamfara State.

Over the years, he has remained an influential political figure in the state and has consistently championed causes related to infrastructure development, education, youth empowerment and social justice.
