2027: Maituta plans Fish Farming, Poultry Empowerment for 2,000 Women, Youths in Zamfara Central
Dr Sanusi Bala Maituta, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Zamfara Central in the 2027 general election, is planning an empowerment programme targeting 2,000 women and youths across the senatorial district.
The proposed initiative will focus on fish farming and poultry production, with the aim of providing beneficiaries with opportunities to engage in agriculture and develop sustainable sources of income.
Maituta’s latest plan is part of his continued empowerment activities in the area. According to those familiar with his interventions, supporting women and young people has become a regular feature of his engagements with constituents, earning him the nickname, “Mr Philanthropist”.
The proposed programme has received commendation from community leader Hamza Marafa, who praised Maituta during a consultation meeting.
Marafa described the initiative as timely, particularly given the challenges of unemployment among young people.
He expressed confidence that the fish farming and poultry scheme could provide beneficiaries with practical opportunities to become economically productive.
The planned empowerment programme is expected to reach up to 2,000 women and youths across Zamfara Central, although further details on its implementation and the selection of beneficiaries are yet to be provided.
Maituta is seeking to represent Zamfara Central in the Senate in 2027, and the proposed initiative has added to discussions surrounding his engagement with communities across the district.
