Stakeholders in Zamfara Central Senatorial District have declared their support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr. Sanusi Bala Turaki Maituta, ahead of the 2027 senatorial election.

The endorsement was made during a recent town hall meeting attended by youths, elders and other constituents from the district.

Speaking at the gathering, the Youth Leader, Alh Umar Tiger, described Maituta, popularly known as Sarkin Dawaki, as the preferred choice of the people, citing his humanitarian and philanthropic contributions to communities across the district.

“Maituta is a good man. That is why we call him Sarkin Dawaki. He is our only choice, and we are speaking with one voice. This is his turn. Zamfara Central needs growth, and Sarkin Dawaki is the man that will lead us to prosperity,” Tiger said.

The elders at the meeting also reportedly endorsed Maituta as their preferred senatorial candidate for Zamfara Central.

The endorsement comes weeks after Maituta received his Certificate of Return as the PDP’s candidate for the Zamfara Central Senatorial District.

Speaking after receiving the certificate, Maituta thanked the PDP leadership, delegates and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, describing the nomination as a call to greater service.

“This Certificate of Return is not just a document; it is a symbol of the trust and confidence that our party members and the people have placed in me. I accept it with humility, gratitude, and a renewed commitment to serve,” he said.

He reaffirmed his confidence in the PDP, describing the party as a platform capable of offering hope and responsive leadership to Nigerians.

“The PDP remains a platform of hope for millions of Nigerians. We must continue to stand together, engage our communities and work tirelessly to earn the trust and confidence of the people,” Maituta added.

He also urged members of the party to remain united and focused on providing people-oriented leadership.

Maituta, a philanthropist and politician, is widely known for his humanitarian interventions in Zamfara State, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development, education, youth empowerment and social welfare. His supporters believe these contributions have strengthened his popularity ahead of the 2027 elections.
