FCT Police foil kidnap attempt, neutralise two in Bwari
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has foiled a kidnapping attempt in Guto village, a community located on the outskirts of Bwari Area Council.
The incident occurred in the early hours of November 20, 2025.
At about 1:10 a.m., the Command received an urgent call alerting officers that a group of about 30 armed men had stormed the village in an attempt to abduct a resident and his family.
Officers from the Bwari Division’s Surveillance Team, working alongside operatives of the IGP Special Intervention Squad (SIS), immediately moved to the location.
On spotting the security team, the attackers opened fire, triggering a fierce exchange of gunshots.

The police operatives overpowered the assailants with superior firepower, fatally shooting two of them, while the others escaped into the nearby bushes and mountainous terrain.

Tragically, one Police officer sustained a fatal gunshot injury during the exchange and was rushed to Bwari General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
The Command deeply regrets this loss, as the officer paid the supreme price in the line of duty.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Miller G. Dantawaye psc., has deployed additional personnel to the affected community to strengthen security in the area and normalcy has since been restored. He has also ordered a detailed investigation to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended.
