BREAKING: Charles Okocha defeats Portable after singer walks out of boxing rematch

Street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, suffered defeat in his celebrity boxing rematch against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha after being disqualified for abandoning the contest before the end of the opening round.

The highly anticipated bout, tagged “Unfinished Business,” took place on Friday at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, and was organised as a rematch following their controversial first encounter.

The first fight had ended in Portable’s favour, but Okocha had consistently maintained that the result was unfair and called for a rematch.

Friday’s contest started with both entertainers exchanging punches, with Portable appearing to gain the upper hand. However, the bout soon degenerated into a wrestling-like struggle as both fighters grappled inside the ring, forcing the referee to intervene repeatedly.

The situation became increasingly chaotic, prompting the referee to signal the end of the opening round while security personnel and members of both camps entered the ring to restore order.

Amid the confusion, Portable unexpectedly walked out of the ring before officials could restart the contest, drawing loud boos from spectators, including fans seated in the VIP section.

Although efforts were made to persuade the singer to return, officials eventually ruled that his actions amounted to abandoning the fight and subsequently disqualified him, handing victory to Charles Okocha.

Before the bout, Portable had expressed hope that the contest would bring happiness to him and his family.

“I am not happy, but I want God to make me happy and my family,” the singer said backstage while holding his son.

The defeat marks a dramatic turnaround for Portable, who had entered the rematch full of confidence after winning the first contest and boldly declaring during the weigh-in that he remained the superior fighter.

For Okocha, the victory brings an end to months of rivalry, with the actor finally getting the result he had insisted he deserved after disputing the outcome of their first meeting.
