2027: Obi, Kwankwaso hold talks with Dickson as OK Movement faces leadership crisis

The presidential and vice-presidential candidates of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have met with the party’s national leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, amid the leadership crisis rocking the OK Movement.

The meeting comes as concerns continue to mount over internal divisions within the OK Movement, a coalition of the Kwankwassiyya and Obidient movements, ahead of the 2027 general election.

The coalition has recently been hit by a leadership dispute, with rival factions emerging, raising concerns among supporters of the Obi-Kwankwaso presidential ticket.

Confirming the meeting in a post on his official Facebook page, Dickson disclosed that he hosted Obi and Kwankwaso at his Abuja residence, where they discussed the affairs of the party and preparations for the forthcoming election campaigns.

According to the former Bayelsa State governor, the discussions centred on the current state of the NDC and strategies for the official campaign season, which is expected to begin later this month.

“Our meeting focused on the positive state of affairs of our party and preparations for the forthcoming campaigns, which are expected to commence later this month,” Dickson stated.

He also appealed to members, supporters and stakeholders of the party to remain united despite the ongoing challenges.

“I call on all members, supporters and stakeholders of our great party to unite, remain steadfast and work together for victory for all candidates of our party,” he added.

The meeting comes amid growing efforts by the party’s leadership to maintain cohesion and strengthen its campaign structure ahead of the 2027 general election.
