‘I have never cheated on my wife – Aregbesola reveals
The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has said he has remained faithful to his wife, Sherifat, throughout their marriage.
Aregbesola made the statement while addressing supporters at an ADC campaign rally in Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The former Osun State governor, speaking in Yoruba, said his decision to remain faithful to his wife was based on a personal commitment he made to God.
He stressed that he had not engaged in sexual relations with any woman other than his wife since they got married.
He told supporters that although such a claim might be difficult for many men to make, he had remained faithful to his wife because of his devotion to God.
Aregbesola said, “Oh Lord my God, if you are the one I am serving, and I did not add any other thing to it. What I am about to say, only a few men can say it: Because of your fear, I never had any intimacy with another woman since I married my wife.”
He added, “I told God that next June, we must do it at the Government House.”
The declaration came as political parties intensified campaigns across Osun ahead of the Saturday governorship election.
The poll will feature incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, who is seeking a second term, alongside the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and Aregbesola’s ADC candidate, Najeem Folasayo Salaam.
The election is scheduled to hold across the 30 local government areas of the state on August 15, 2026.
