EPL: Tottenham sign Marmoush on loan from Man City

Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement to sign Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush on loan, with an obligation to make the transfer permanent for £60 million next summer.

The 27-year-old Egypt international is set to join Spurs after struggling to secure regular playing time at Manchester City since his arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt.

According to BBC Sport, Marmoush will move to Tottenham as the club looks to provide him with more opportunities to play.

Marmoush joined Manchester City in January 2025 for £59 million following an impressive spell with Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, he often played second fiddle to Erling Haaland and found it difficult to establish himself as a regular starter at the Etihad Stadium.

The Egyptian was introduced as a second-half substitute in City’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat by Arsenal and was an unused substitute in their Premier League opener, a 2-1 home victory over Bournemouth.

Marmoush scored 16 goals in 62 appearances in all competitions for City.

Eight of those goals came in 36 appearances during the 2025-26 season, while his Premier League involvement dropped significantly.

He started just eight league matches and played around 700 minutes, finishing the campaign with three goals and three assists.

His move to Tottenham could provide the forward with an opportunity to secure more regular first-team football.

What Marmoush brings to Tottenham

Marmoush’s versatility could be a major asset for Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Although primarily a centre-forward, the Egypt international has experience operating across the frontline.

At Eintracht Frankfurt, he was used mainly through the middle but also played as a second striker and from the left wing.

Manchester City similarly deployed him primarily as a central attacker while occasionally using him from the flank and behind another forward.

That flexibility could prove valuable for Spurs, particularly with Dominic Solanke having experienced injury problems over the past 18 months and Richarlison entering the final year of his contract.

Marmoush is comfortable dropping towards the ball, changing positions and attacking spaces created by defenders being pulled out of position.

Tottenham have already spent heavily during the summer transfer window, with their spending reportedly exceeding £312 million.

The club’s recruitment drive has included the signing of Savio from Manchester City, while several other players have also arrived as Spurs continue to reshape their squad.

Marmoush’s proposed £60 million permanent transfer would make him another significant addition as Tottenham seek to strengthen their attacking options.

For the Egyptian, the move represents a chance to revive his momentum after an inconsistent spell at Manchester City and establish himself as a key player in north London.
