The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) has invited applications from suitably qualified candidates for the vacant position of University Bursar.

The Bursar is a Principal Officer of the university and serves as its Chief Financial Officer, responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the institution’s financial affairs.

Applicants will be assessed based on their academic qualifications, professional membership, relevant experience, current rank, age and other requirements stated by the university.

Duties of the FUTMINNA Bursar

The University Bursar will be responsible for the day-to-day administration and control of FUTMINNA’s financial affairs.

The officer will also provide financial advice and support to the university management on financial transactions, including auditing.

The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate:

  • Competence in financial administration and management.
  • Responsiveness and professionalism.
  • Integrity and transparency.
  • Strong financial management skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively with financial stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of ICT and its application in financial administration.

Required Professional Experience

Applicants must currently hold a rank not lower than Chief Accountant.

They must also have:

  • At least 15 years of relevant professional experience.
  • At least five years of experience in a university.
  • Demonstrable competence in financial administration and management.

These requirements form part of the university’s assessment of candidates for the position.

Age and Appointment Period

Candidates must not be more than 59 years old at the time of appointment.

The appointment will be for an initial period of five years, subject to a possible one-year extension based on satisfactory performance.

500-Word Vision Statement

Each applicant is required to submit a statement of not more than 500 words outlining their vision for the development and management of a digitalised Bursary Department of a 21st Century University.

The vision statement will form part of the application materials and should clearly demonstrate the candidate’s understanding of modern university financial administration.

Applicants are required to provide three referees.
