A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Abdulrahman Haske, has resigned from the party and moved to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Haske announced his resignation from the APC on Saturday, confirming that he had also joined the APM.

Very Nigerian reports that the politician has secured the APM ticket to contest the Adamawa State governorship election.

His move comes as political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections, with parties positioning candidates and politicians making fresh alignments.

Haske was one of the major contenders for the APC governorship ticket during the party’s primary election.

Days ago, indications had emerged that he was leaving the broom party.

At his formal defection, which was attended by party leaders, stakeholders, traditional and community leaders, youth and women’s groups, loyalists, and supporters from all 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Adamawa State, Haske said his decision was anchored on principle, service, and the aspirations of the people.

He added that it was informed by his conviction that the party offered the most credible platform to advance a people-centred development agenda and build a more prosperous, inclusive, and secure Adamawa.

Haske also expressed profound appreciation to the leadership of the APM for the confidence reposed in him, particularly the National Chairman, the National Working Committee, and the Adamawa State chapter of the party.

“I am deeply grateful to the leadership of the Allied Peoples Movement for their belief in our shared vision and for entrusting me with the responsibility of carrying the party’s flag in the 2027 governorship election.

“I accept this mandate with humility and an unwavering determination to justify this confidence through integrity, hard work, and dedicated service to the people of Adamawa State,” he stated.

Speaking at the event, the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, described Haske as a leader whose political philosophy aligns closely with the party’s progressive ideals and commitment to people-centred governance.

The event concluded with a call for unity among party members and supporters, as stakeholders pledged to work collectively towards building a stronger political movement ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
