2027: Withdraw from Presidential race, back Tinubu – Kaduna APC tells Atiku
The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race and support President Bola Tinubu.
The ruling party also claimed that Atiku could no longer rely on Northern votes, insisting that the region had demonstrated support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
The APC’s position was made public on Monday by its Kaduna State Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Sani Haruna, during a press briefing.
Haruna cited the large turnout at Tinubu’s presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna on Saturday as evidence, according to the party, that the North had embraced the President.
“I am categorically calling on him to withdraw from the race. Already, the odds are against him,” Haruna said.
The APC spokesman also called on Atiku to reciprocate what he described as Tinubu’s past political support for his presidential ambition.
He further accused Atiku and other opposition figures of exploiting ethnic, religious and regional sentiments in their efforts to secure support from Northern voters.
Haruna also dismissed allegations that people who attended Saturday’s rally were paid to participate or that videos of the crowd had been generated using artificial intelligence.
According to him, many supporters arrived at the venue several hours before the event, while some reportedly spent the night there in anticipation of the rally.
He maintained that the turnout reflected genuine support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
However, the APC’s claims about Northern support represent the party’s assessment of the rally and do not, on their own, establish the voting intentions of the entire region.
