APC only making noise, nobody can beat Kwankwaso in Kano — Sen. Victor Umeh

Anambra Central Senator Victor Umeh has expressed confidence that Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso will deliver Kano State for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2027 general election.

Umeh, a chieftain of the NDC, said Kwankwaso’s political influence in Kano remained strong enough to withstand opposition from other political parties, provided the election is free, fair and credible.

The senator made the assertion on Friday during an interview with Channels Television while discussing the opposition party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Nobody can beat Kwankwaso in Kano. He is the vice-presidential candidate of the NDC. No matter the noise they make in Kano, nobody will beat him there. I can bet it once the election is credible, transparent, free and fair,” Umeh said.

He maintained that the NDC was preparing to contest the 2027 election with candidates capable of winning at the polls, stressing that the ultimate decision would rest with Nigerian voters.

“I’m working with him and other leaders of the party very closely. The party is well more prepared to be an opposition party that will contest this (2027) election with very credible candidates,” he said.

Umeh also spoke about Peter Obi’s political reception in Rivers State, describing the crowd that followed the former Labour Party presidential candidate during his recent visit as evidence of growing support.

According to him, residents of the state had embraced Obi because they had seen what they liked in him, expressing the belief that such support would eventually translate into votes during the election.

The senator, however, called for a level playing field for all political parties and candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

He stressed that the credibility of the electoral process would be crucial in determining whether the support claimed by the various political camps would translate into actual votes on election day.
