Gov Namadi presents N46.3bn supplementary budget to Jigawa Assembly

The Jigawa State House of Assembly has passed the 2026 Budget Review and proposed Supplementary Appropriation Bill of N46.3 billion for first reading.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, announced the development during Wednesday’s plenary session after reading a letter from Governor Umar Namadi seeking the lawmakers’ consideration of the supplementary budget.

Dangyatin said the proposed N46.3 billion supplementary appropriation was presented as part of the state government’s efforts to ensure prudent, transparent and accountable management of public funds.

The bill will now proceed through the legislative process for further consideration by the House.

He said the review was also intended to ensure that available resources were channelled towards programmes and projects capable of making significant contributions to the socio-economic development and wellbeing of the people of Jigawa State.

Following the communication, the Majority Leader of the House, Lawan Muhammad Dansure, moved a motion for the bill to be read for the first time.

The motion was seconded by the member representing Kiyawa Constituency, Yahaya Muhammad Andaza, after which the bill was formally read for the first time.

The House subsequently adjourned its sitting to Thursday, September 24, 2026.

The proposed supplementary appropriation followed the Jigawa State Executive Council’s approval of a review of the 2026 Appropriation Law and supplementary budget, increasing the state’s total budget size by N46.369 billion.

If passed into law, the review will raise Jigawa State’s 2026 budget from the original N901.8 billion to approximately N948.2 billion.
