Nigerian Army honours four retiring personnel in Kaduna

The Nigerian Army’s 1 Division has honoured four retiring personnel for their years of dedicated service to the nation.

The personnel were recognised during a send-off ceremony held on Wednesday at the 1 Division Auditorium.

The ceremony was hosted by the General Officer Commanding 1 Division and Commander, Sector 1 Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Wase.

In a post shared on its X account on Thursday, the Army said the event was organised to appreciate the retirees for their loyalty, commitment and sacrifices throughout their years of service.

Speaking at the event, Wase commended the retirees for their “steadfast commitment and invaluable contributions” to the Nigerian Army.

He said the ceremony demonstrated the “deep bond and esprit de corps” among army personnel, adding that such relationships transcend rank and file.

According to the GOC, the gesture reflects the Nigerian Army’s institutionalised culture of appreciating personnel who have served the nation meritoriously.

He urged the retirees to “judiciously invest and manage” their retirement benefits as they begin their transition into civilian life.

Wase also assured them that they would remain members of the Nigerian Army family, urging them to maintain their ties with the military community and uphold the high standards of discipline associated with their service.

The retirees honoured at the ceremony were Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Ladi Mustapha of Headquarters 1 Division; MWO Oche Sunday, Chief Clerk, Headquarters 1 Division; Warrant Officer Obile Mu’azu of Headquarters 1 Division; and Mr Oyagha Theophilus of 1 Division Finance.

Speaking on behalf of the retirees, MWO Oche Sunday expressed appreciation to the GOC and the leadership of 1 Division for the opportunity to serve.

He thanked the command for the “guidance, mentorship, and unwavering encouragement” they received throughout their careers.

Sunday said the experiences and memories gathered during their years of service would remain “invaluable assets” as they embarked on the next chapter of their lives.

The ceremony ended with the presentation of special gifts and souvenirs to the retirees, followed by group photographs to commemorate their retirement milestone.
