Nigerian Army opens 92 regular recruits intake recruitment (Guide to Apply)

The Nigerian Army has commenced online recruitment for the 92 Regular Recruits Intake (92RRI) for Tradesmen, Non-Tradesmen and Women.

The recruitment exercise is open to eligible Nigerians seeking enlistment into the Nigerian Army, with applications being processed through the Army’s official recruitment portal.

According to the Army’s recruitment portal, online registration commenced on September 9, 2026, and will close on October 21, 2026.

The exercise provides opportunities for applicants with technical and vocational skills, including tradesmen and women with relevant qualifications such as Trade Test or City & Guild certificates.

The Army states that recruitment is free of charge and applicants should not give money or gratification to anyone claiming to facilitate their recruitment.

Who Can Apply?

The recruitment is divided broadly into Tradesmen/Tradeswomen and Non-Tradesmen/Non-Tradeswomen.

Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, single and possess a National Identity Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN).

The name and date of birth on the NIN must correspond with those on the BVN and other credentials.

Age Requirements

The official recruitment portal states that:

Category Age Requirement as at October 21, 2026
Non-Tradesmen/Non-Tradeswomen 18–22 years
Tradesmen/Tradeswomen 18–26 years

This means the general 18–35 age range stated in some reports does not reflect the age limits currently published on the Nigerian Army’s official 92RRI recruitment portal.

Educational Requirements

Applicants must possess at least four passes, including English Language, in WASSCE, GCE, NECO, NABTEB or NBAIS, obtained in not more than two sittings.

Candidates applying under the trades category must also possess the relevant Trade Test or City & Guild certificate, in addition to the basic educational requirements.

Technical and Skilled Applicants

The exercise is particularly relevant to Nigerians with vocational and technical skills required under the trades category.

Applicants with recognised trade qualifications should ensure that their certificates correspond with the trade for which they are applying.

The Army’s recruitment information specifically requires Trade Test or City & Guild certification for tradesmen and women.

Other Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be Nigerian citizens by birth.
  • Be single.
  • Possess a valid NIN and BVN.
  • Be medically, physically and psychologically fit according to Nigerian Army standards.
  • Have no criminal conviction by a court of competent jurisdiction.
  • Possess a valid birth certificate endorsed by the National Population Commission, hospital or Local Government Council, or an acceptable court-endorsed age declaration.
  • Meet the prescribed educational requirements.
  • Meet the stipulated height requirements.
  • Apply using their state of origin, not state of residence.
  • Provide original educational certificates during screening.

Height Requirement

The Army’s recruitment portal specifies a minimum height of:

  • 1.68 metres for male applicants
  • 1.65 metres for female applicants

The recruitment notice also contains restrictions concerning tattoos, body piercings, cult or fraternity membership and other conditions that applicants must satisfy.

Documents for Screening

Shortlisted candidates will be required to present relevant original documents during the state screening exercise.

The Army states that candidates should bring documents including:

  • Printed photo card;
  • Declaration by applicant;
  • Parent/Guardian forms;
  • Certification by LGA Chairman/Secretary;
  • Certification by Divisional Police Officer;
  • Guarantor’s form;
  • NIN slip;
  • BVN slip; and
  • Original educational certificates and other required credentials.

Screening Date

According to the Army’s recruitment portal, shortlisted candidates are expected to report to their respective states of origin for the screening exercise between November 17 and December 1, 2026.

The names of shortlisted candidates will be published on the Nigerian Army’s website.

How to Apply

Interested and qualified applicants should:

  1. Visit the Nigerian Army’s official recruitment portal.
  2. Create an account using the required details.
  3. Log in with the username and password generated during registration.
  4. Complete the application form accurately.
  5. Upload or provide the required information and documents.
  6. Submit the application online.
  7. Print the application/photo card and other required forms.
  8. Complete the guarantor documentation where applicable.
  9. Keep the documents safely for the screening exercise if shortlisted.

The Army warns applicants that failure to properly submit the application after printing the photo card may lead to disqualification.

Recruitment Is Free

The Nigerian Army has reiterated that recruitment into the service is free.

Applicants have been warned against paying individuals, agents or organisations promising to secure recruitment slots or assist them in gaining preferential treatment.

Candidates are also advised not to offer gratification or inducements to anyone in connection with the exercise.

Deadline

The application portal will close on October 21, 2026.

Prospective applicants are advised to complete and submit their applications before the deadline and carefully review all information entered, as errors or failure to meet the stated conditions could affect the application.
