The Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Nura Abdullahi, has regained his freedom after spending 61 days in captivity.

Abdullahi was released alongside other victims abducted during the attack, according to a family source who spoke to Channels Television.

The council chairman was kidnapped on July 25, 2026, after bandits reportedly attacked his residence in Bungudu town.

He was released alongside the other victims, although the circumstances surrounding their release were not immediately disclosed.

The Zamfara State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement on his release.
