Fire razes 21 exotic cars in Lagos mechanical workshop
Twenty-one exotic cars have been affected by a fire that engulfed a mechanical workshop on Oladunni Street, Isheri-Idimu, in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The fire reportedly broke out at about 3:05 a.m. on Friday beside Eternal Filling Station.
Emergency responders, however, contained the inferno before it could spread to the nearby petrol station and surrounding buildings.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said its Dolphin Response Team, stationed at Igando, was immediately dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call.
The agency said the team worked with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps and the Nigeria Police Force to extinguish the fire.
A statement by LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, said preliminary assessment showed that about 21 exotic cars were affected, while a section of a nearby building sustained minor damage.
He said the fire had been completely extinguished and damping-down operations concluded.
No casualty or injury was recorded in the incident.
Oke-Osanyintolu commended the emergency responders for their swift intervention, which he said prevented the fire from spreading to the filling station and other nearby structures.
He urged residents, particularly operators of mechanical workshops, to observe safety measures when handling inflammable materials.
